A Massachusetts woman is facing a federal charge after authorities say she helped run a prostitution ring that sent women as far as Florida to meet with clients.
Natashia Bowman, who lives in Dorchester, is being charged with conspiracy to commit interstate travel in aid of a racketeering enterprise in Boston federal court, according to information released Friday.
The name of the other person is not listed in court records. Bowman and the unnamed co-conspirator recruited women and forced them to have sex with clients in several states from January until , according to authorities.
Women were forced to meet clients in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, Florida and Maine in order to have sex for money, federal records said. Bowman, authorities allege, created a website in promoting the prostitution business. The name of the website was not listed in court records. Authorities claim Bowman rented a hotel room in October and told a victim to go to the hotel and perform sex acts for money. The victim was then assaulted by Bowman after refusing to meet with the client.
Bowman exchanged text-messages with the creator of the prostitution ring in where they discussed hotel room rates and advertisements for the business, records show. Bowman assaulted a victim in after she failed to make "sufficient" money while being forced to work as a prostitute, authorities said.
